Mary Witt, Physical Therapist

When I was about 10 years old, my dad had a very physical job and I gave him back rubs when he got home – he always felt better when I was done.  I didn’t realize it at the time, but that was the beginning of my physical therapy career.

Although I began my college career at Marquette University in Milwaukee with the thought of becoming an accountant, life threw me some curves and I ended up losing my left leg to cancer.  Aside from extending my college career for a year, it also pointed me toward physical therapy as my vocation.  Now, twenty-eight years later, I can’t imagine doing anything else.

When I work with my patients, I use my ears, my eyes, and my fingers to find the root of the problem. I work very much hands-on to initiate the healing process, then add exercise to finish it.  I love to see my patients’ moods change as they get better, and it inspires me when I can be a part of making their lives better.

My goal, aside from helping my patients heal, is to make them feel confident that they’ll be cared for in a compassionate and sensible environment, but one that also pushes them to make themselves part of their own ongoing care plan.

I’m fortunate that after 25 years of working for other clinics and agencies, I have been able to bring that experience to Competitive Edge Physical Therapy whihc I staerbring What are some of your interests, outside of work?

I’m fortunate that after 25 years of working for other clinics and agencies, I have been able to bring that experience to Competitive Edge Physical Therapy which I started in 2012.  I love having the freedom and support to push the limits, and to use my experience to take people to the next level.
